BRATISLAVA, December 11, (WEBNOVINY) – Head of Slovak diplomacy Mikulas Dzurinda (SDKU-DS) is to pay an official visit to Kenya and South Sudan, a new country on the map of the world, on Monday. The minister is to meet representatives of both countries. South Sudan declared independence on July 9 of this year. Slovakia officially recognized the country on the same day. The foreign affairs minister is to establish diplomatic relations with the young country.
In Kenya, Dzurinda is to sign an agreement on development cooperation, which the Slovak Cabinet approved in November. Based on the agreement, development aid that Slovakia is to provide to Kenya will be subject to agreed-upon rules and conditions. For instance, Kenya will inform the Slovak Embassy in Nairobi of every emergency situation in the country and in case of a state of emergency, Slovaks reserve the right to leave the country.
Together with the minister, five tons of humanitarian aid will fly to Africa. Head of the Foreign Affairs Ministry’s press department Petra Greksova said that the ministry’s employees, the St. Elizabeth University of Health and Social Sciences and the non-governmental organization Magna Children at Risk provided clothing, medical supplies, medicaments, as well as dried and instant food for the two countries dependent on development aid.
