BRATISLAVA, March 24, (WEBNOVINY) – Parliamentary deputies of the junior member of the four-party ruling coalition MOST-HID may vote for the aending proposals of the opposition in the future, according to Chairman Bela Bugar, even if it does not suit a minister for the Christian Democrats (KDH). MOST-HID’s leader told journalists this after Radoslav Prochazka of KDH voted for the draft bill on state citizenship tailored by the strongest opposition party SMER-SD. “So far we have always tried to persuade our colleagues that it is better not to support opposition proposals. Now it does not have to be like that,” said Bugar. In his opinion, there is either a ruling coalition or there is a group of deputies who behave as they like. “Everybody has to realize that we have a fragile majority,” he added.

Slovak Parliament did not approve softening the law on state citizenship on Thursday, as proposed by SMER-SD. People who acquire a passport of a different country will still have to gave up their Slovak citizenship, otherwise they will face a fine. The proposal was supported by the former coalition deputy, now independent Igor Matovic and Radoslav Prochazka of KDH.
