State gas utility SPP shows positive results in gas and electricity sale

Gas utility SPP expects to achieve the market share of 7.5 % on household electricity market in 2017. The state-controlled company will thus rank the 4th among household electricity suppliers.

About ten years after the gas market liberalization, the state-owned company Slovensky Plynarensky Priemysel (SPP) managed to raise its market share in 2017. „In 2017, we are expecting a year-on-year increase in the market share for the first time since gas market liberalization,“ a spokesman for SPP Ondrej Sebesta informed the portal vEnergetike.sk. The company has not yet specified its new market share. In 2016, it was slightly over 55%. SPP achieved positive results also on the electricity market. The company expects the market share of 7.5% on the household electricity market in 2017, while it was 5.8%  a year earlier. The state-controlled company will thus rank the 4th among household electricity suppliers.
