The third nuclear unit in Mochovce is going through the last tests before entering the commercial operation. Slovenske Elektrarne, which is responsible for the completion of the third and fourth nuclear unit at the power plant Mochovce, started one of the most important tests, a so-called hot hydrostatic testing on the third unit shortly before Christmas. According to the Nuclear Supervisory Authority (UJD), which oversees the completion of Mochovce nuclear units, the hot hydrostatic testing is advancing without any major flaws. “In our view, the hot hydrostatic testing is progressing without any major shortcomings,“ Miriam Vachova, director of the Nuclear Supervisory Authority’s Office informed the portal vEnergetike.sk. Two out of five sub-stages on the third nuclear unit have already been carried out. The completion of the hydrostatic testing is scheduled for March 2019.
