Consumers unlikely to pay more for nuclear decommissioning

Electricity consumers are not expected to pay more for nuclear decommissioning this year. The Nuclear and Decommissioning Company (JAVYS) does not expect an increase in funds for nuclear decommissioning that consumers pay via their bills. Although the state budget for the years 2016-2018 expects consumers to pay 71 million eurso for a so-called back-end fuel cycle this year, which is roughly 4 million euros more than last year, the company JAVYS states that this sum may be different in the end.  „The sum of 71 million euros planned in the state budget is based on the estimated electricity consumption in the Slovak Republic for this year which may ultimately reach last year’s level and collected fees may thus reach last year’s level,“ a spokesperson for JAVYS, Miriam Ziakova, informed the portal vEnergetike.sk.
