BRATISLAVA, December 8, (WEBNOVINY) — The only one of current 62 SMER-SD parliament deputies who did not make it to the candidate list for the 2012 early election is Ladislav Lazar. “We plan to have him in the executive,” said party leader and former Prime Minister Robert Fico at Thursday’s press conference where the list was presented. Fico leads the list and the remaining deputies are on the list’s first 62 positions. The only newbie to assume a position among incumbent MPs is advocate trainee Otto Brixi who made it to 52nd place replacing Lazar. Fico said Brixi is an active member of the Young Social Democrats, a youth organization affiliated with SMER, in eastern Slovakia.
There were no significant changes compared to the 2010 list. Former party Deputy Chairman Igor Federic dropped from one of the leading positions, being replaced by current Deputy Chairman Peter Kazimir and assuming Kazimir’s former 28th place.
Party leader Robert Fico leads the list, followed by deputy chairmen Pavol Paska, Robert Kalinak, Marek Madaric, Dusan Caplovic and Peter Kazimir. Former Finance Minister Jan Pociatek is seventh, followed by Kosice Mayor and former Health Minister Richard Rasi. Slovakia will hold early parliamentary elections on March 10, 2012. Parties have a deadline of registering their party lists by December 11.
