BRATISLAVA, September 22, (WEBNOVINY) — Head of Slovak diplomacy Mikulas Dzurinda held talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov at the UN in New York. Minister Lavrov thanked the Slovak government for the help provided to overcome consequences of devastating fires this summer in Russia. The ministers spoke about topics related to the energy sector, too. “We certainly will agree upon conditions of crude oil supplies until 2015,” stated Lavrov. They devoted attention to Russia’s relations with the EU, NATO, and U.S.A. The same topics resonated at a Transatlantic dinner hosted by U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Juraj Tomaga of the Foreign Ministry’s Press Department provided this information to SITA news agency.
In New York, minister Dzurinda signed a contract on social security between Slovakia and Australia. The agreement secures export of monetary contributions, pensions, and benefits to the territory of the other contractual country. It also allows inclusion of insurance periods for entitlement to a contribution and equality of citizens of the two countries in social sphere.
The Slovak foreign affairs minister delivered an address during the debate on the Millennium Development Goals, titled Support of Sustainable Development. He spoke about Slovakia’s contribution to reduction of greenhouse gases and increase in the effectiveness of energy use.
