BRATISLAVA, February 16, (WEBNOVINY) — It is quite apparent from the stance of Acting Prosecutor General Dobroslav Trnka who really wanted the Gorilla case to be investigated and who tried to halt it, Interior Minister Daniel Lipsic stated on Thursday. The minister was reacting to a story printed in today’s issue of the SME daily according to which Trnka had insisted on suspension of the investigation of the Gorilla case in the past. “The police conducted a determined investigation until the Military Prosecution Office and Prosecutor General Office stopped it,” emphasized Lipsic. If some colleagues feel that the police could investigate the case already after Lipsic took up, Trnka’s letter is cut and dried in this respect. The police was on the target, it could not be in other way, but the Prosecutor General Office halted the investigation, explained Lipsic. His answer to the rightist politicians who are asking with regard to the Gorilla case where were the police one and a half years ago is “My patience has its limits, too.” Investigation is intensive which, the minister opines, may not be to somebody’s liking.“ I have been reserved so far but that can also change,” stressed Lipsic.

Deputy Prosecutor General Dobroslav Trnka directly insisted on halting the investigation of the Gorilla case in the past, Thursday SME daily issue reads. The daily states that Trnka did so in the time when the battle for a new head of the Prosecutor’s General Office between him and Jozef Centes culminated. Trnka released an instruction on April 12, 2011, which the SME daily has at its disposal, ordering the Military Prosecution Office to halt investigation of the case. “Without any intention to lead you on to the decision that should be made in this case, I would like to suggest you to study provisions of the Penal Code regarding halting criminal prosecution,” the SME daily cites Trnka’s letter.

The Military Prosecution Office supervised investigation in the Gorilla case of suspicions against intelligence service officials who allegedly traded with the file. Trnka opined that the investigation had been unlawful.
