BRATISLAVA, October 22, (WEBNOVINY) – KDH leader Jan Figel believes that his party has the potential to win more supporters. “KDH has modestly grown in the previous elections but it can gain more. The number of clubs and members has increased. I feel new vitality in the membership base,” Figel told journalists on Saturday following the session of the KDH Council in Bratislava. Experience confirms that Slovakia needs stable and experienced political parties.
KDH proved the readiness to join difficult relations and coalitions that moved the country forward. “To us, the closest partners are those with whom we have experienced hard times in the parliament. That is SDKU-DS and MOST-HID. Anything else is unnatural,” he noted. Christian Democrats will strive for a center-right offer. “Electors will decide. It would be irresponsible to conclude decisions that are in the hands of citizens,” he replied when asked whether he rules out potential cooperation with SMER-SD after the elections. He greeted some attitudes of SMER-SD when it voted for some decisions even though the price was high. “Our perceptions of Slovakia and the world differ significantly in many areas, though we have been able to attain convergence,” he stated.
The KDH Council approved a time line of tasks to be done ahead of the elections. It agreed upon basic mechanisms to prepare the nomination council slated to take place on November 26 in Martin. The offer for electors will include an election program. “We want to come up with personal and program offer so that KDH cements its position on the Slovak political landscape,” the party chair elaborated.
