PRESOV, March 19, (WEBNOVINY)- Members of the opposition non-parliamentary LS-HZDS will support the red-white day of healthcare workers on March 23 by taking part in protest rallies all over Slovakia. They will join as well the “We Want Health Service for the Citizens” petition. The party is dissatisfied with steps of the current management of the Health Ministry and with the health system as such, said party chairman Vladimir Meciar at a news conference after the sitting of the LS-HZDS Republic Board in Presov.

Meciar reported that they sat over two issues; the social development in Slovakia and latest political happenings here. He was critical of the fact that there exists no program of social balance regarding regions, incomes and work opportunities. The party is also concerned about the plans to introduce tuition fees for daily university students. The LS-HZDS does not agree with privatization “They are gnawing at the state bone until nothing is left on it and they consider this the main principle of their activity,” commented Meciar.

Regarding political issues, the party of Vladimir Meciar criticized the government for having infringed on the constitution when allotting money for the campaign prior to the May census which should mobilize citizens to claim affiliation to a national minority, which Meciar considers problematic mainly in the relation to Hungarians and Roma. Meciar says that the campaign distorts the demography of the Slovak Republic and money which the minorities will receive based on the census results will not reflect the reality.

The Republic Board has adopted as well Meciar’s stance on Libya. According to him the party respects the decision of the UN Security Council but it rejects Slovakia’s participation in military activities.
