BRATISLAVA, October 11, (WEBNOVINY) — The growth rate of sales in the Slovak industry in August was the slowest so far this year, but maintained a two-digit pace. According to data of the Slovak Statistics Office, the sales in the Slovak industry reached EUR 5.191 billion in August, up 12.8 percent y/y. In July, they swelled by 17.7 percent.
The most significant growth of sales in August was reported in the production of machinery and equipment of 47.4 percent, in the production of electrical devices of 26 percent, in the production of transport means of 21.5 percent, and in production of rubber and plastics products and other non-mineral products of 15.4 percent. Sales in the production of metal and metallic structures except machinery and equipment went up 14.2 percent. Sales in mining and extraction of raw mineral materials tumbled by 5.4 percent and in production of coke and refined crude oil products by 3.2 percent.
In the first eight months of this year, sales in industry totaled EUR 42.558 billion on a y/y increase of 19.9 percent. The indicator rose particularly in the production of transport means (+37.3 percent), the production of metals and metallic structures apart from machines and equipment (+27.3 percent), the production of computer, electronic and optical products (+23.4 percent), the production of electrical devices (+18.3 percent), and in distribution of electricity, gas, steam and cooled air (+11.6 percent). The Statistics Office reported a 7.8 percent decline in sales in mining and extraction of raw mineral materials and 4.9 percent decline in the production of coke and refined crude oil products.
