BRATISLAVA, March 29, (WEBNOVINY) – It is time for the international community to help initiate political dialogue in Libya, said Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Mikulas Dzurinda at an international conference in London on Tuesday, where foreign affairs ministers met to discuss the future of this northern African country. “So that everybody in Libya who feels responsibility and wants to have a say in the administration of their country have opportunity to do so, as dialogue is better than arms. Of course, we were very concerned about the fact that the regime of Muammar Gaddafi was killing its own citizens and that is why we understood and we understand the resolutions of the Security Council of the United Nations Organizations,” stated Dzurinda.

However, he added that the international community should try and contribute to calming the situation down as soon as possible and make effort so that the political debate of all those interested from Benghazi to Tripoli led to new administration of Libya that would be peaceful and engaging all citizens to allow Libyans to govern their state, he said.

The head of Slovak diplomacy also added that to some extent Slovaks understand the revolution in Libya. “As for Slovakia, we are prepared to help such a process, probably also because we came through the same process from a restrictive society, in which only one could decide, to free society, where people choose who will be deciding. We would like to share this experience as well as contribute to the rebuilding of Libya,” concluded Dzurinda, who said he believed that the time for Libya’s restoration would soon come.
