BRATISLAVA, January 22, (WEBNOVINY) — SDKU-DS leader Mikulas Dzurinda talked about the investigation of the Gorilla case on air of the Slovak Television in the program O Pat Minut Dvanast. When asked whether he did enough after the secret intelligence service (the SIS) had provided him, the then PM, with information on various suspicions corresponding with the content of the file code-named Gorilla, Dzurinda stated that there was a thick line between the prime minister and the police when it came to information from the secret intelligence service and the prime minister must not influence independent institutions as the police. At that time, he did not see a reason to inquire the then Minister of Interior about the verification of the given information. The SDKU-DS boss denied that the verification and investigation of the information provided by the SIS were not resolute enough. The question is why the case was not probed into during the four-year rule of Robert Fico.
SDKU-DS Deputy Chairperson, Minister of Finance Ivan Miklos admitted that he once, probably in 2008, debated the alleged information also contained in the Gorilla file with party leader Mikulas Dzurinda. Miklos later learned about the case when Anna Bubenikova was nominated to lead the National Property Fund and SAS leader Richard Sulik told him that such a file, reportedly in the form of transcribed wiretaps. The file allegedly mentioned Bubenikova’s involvement in corrupt activities. Miklos announced in the TV Markiza’s program Na Telo that he had asked Bubenikova about those accusations. The minister is convinced that the case will be investigated thoroughly only if politicians stay away. Chairman of the SaS deputy club Jozef Kollar said to the accusation that SaS knew about the Gorilla file but did nothing about it that the party had been assured that PM Iveta Radicova, too, had been provided with that information.
