BRATISLAVA, November 15, (WEBNOVINY) – The SDKU-DS party is a party for difficult times, according to its Chairman and Foreign Affairs Minister Mikulas Dzurinda. At a news conference on Tuesday, Dzurinda presented seven basic attributes with which the party will want to address voters in its campaign ahead of the early parliamentary elections to be held on March 10, 2012. As the party leader said, the first attribute is being active. The party will develop direct contacts with voters, which has always brought good results, Dzurinda said. The party will use the Internet in its campaign, too, but as Dzurinda underscored, his people were never afraid to stand face to face to people, while opinions are best shaped in discussions. “Direct contact with voters will dominate,” he said.

The SDKU-DS leader went on to say that attributes characteristic of the party are professionalism, experience, stability, firmness, courage and reliability. “Our party is characterized by attributes necessary to handle crisis situations. The upcoming elections will be about resolving problems,” he said, adding that the journey to our prosperity leads through cooperation with other nations. “We will never let Slovakia slip into isolation, Dzurinda said, adding that it is inevitable for Slovakia to participate in decision-making within the EU.

SDKU-DS wishes to complete what they initiated in the summer of 2010 in order for the people to benefit from the changes, Dzurinda said. According to him, the SDKU-DS is consistent and firm. “We are a team, we are a party of politicians who do not need a strong leader and everyone has as much space as they can make for themselves,” said the twice ex-prime minister who governed Slovakia from 1998 to 2006. In addition to experienced politicians, they have other strong ambitious figures among them, such as Pavol Freso, Sergej Ivanco, Martin Fedor, Milan Jezovica, Maria Kolikova, Miroslav Beblavy, Vladimir Tvaroska a Martin Bruncko. “We will offer an attractive candidate list,” he added.

SDKU-DS Deputy Chairman Ivan Miklos reported that preparations of the election program have already started, while the program is to be presented in December. The program will be based on the 2010 election program titled For a Stronger Middle Class and Modern Slovakia. According to Miklos, populism of Robert Fico or Richard Sulik will not help Slovakia. He reminded that SDKU-DS started tying up public funds. “We have reduced the deficit from eight to 4.9 percent. We have reduced the state’s spending,” he said.

SDKU-DS is to spend two million euros on election campaign. It will draw a loan from a commercial bank operating in Slovakia. The party wants to spend one million euros less on this campaign than in the regular parliamentary elections in June 2010.
