BRATISLAVA, August 11, (WEBNOVINY) — The liberal member of the ruling coalition member, the SaS party, objects to pressures that arose in connection with the party’s position toward boosting the capacity of the EU temporary bailout fund as well as increasing its competencies. According to SaS deputy leader and Economy Minister Juraj Miskov, the party is just respecting the government program statement. As Miskov told Thursday’s news conference, the government program statement does not speak about increasing the first EU bailout fund or about other stabilization mechanisms to be supported, or about loans that Slovakia should provide to irresponsible countries.

“If this governing coalition is to prevail, such attacks are pointless. In this situation, we won’t do businesses with our votes. We are openly saying that the SaS will not change its position on this issue,” Culture Minister Daniel Krajcer stated.

According to head of the Parliamentary Financial Committee Jozef Kollar, they still might persuade one of the parliamentary parties that the SaS‘ position on Brussels’ anti-crisis measures are correct. The party objects both to increasing the bailout fund as well as widening its scope.
