BRATISLAVA, December 8, (WEBNOVINY) — Richard Sulik will lead the neo-liberal party SaS to the early parliamentary elections slated for March 2012, followed by Culture Minister Daniel Krajcer and Economy Minister Juraj Miskov. While presenting the first thirty nominees on the candidate list at a news conference in parliament, party leader Richard Sulik noted that SaS was the only real alternative to politicians that have been on the local political scene overly long. Ex-Defense Minister Lubomir Galko will run for a seat in parliament from the fourth position, while Labor Minister Jozef Mihal is number five on the list. The following five places on the list belong to current MPs: party’s General Manager Jana Kissova, Chairman of the deputy club Jozef Kollar, Natalia Blahova, Martin Poliacik and Kamil Krnac, former candidate to lead the National Security Office.
Sulik emphasized that the candidates were picked based on their professional experience, adding that SaS would not offer any celebrities, actors or athletes. Profiles of nominees picked in a special selection procedure will be posted on the web site www.politikaopen.sk. SaS also weighed values pursued by candidates. Sulik admitted the party learned its lesson when they took people with different values on its slate in the pervious election and the decision turned out to be wrong [four ‚Ordinary People‘ elected from the last four places on the SaS party list by preferential votes — SITA note]. Culture Minister Krajcer announced that their campaign will begin on January 10 and will be based on communication. SaS will not participate in the political campaign before Christmas as it does not want to bother people.
SaS garnered 12.14 percent in the 2010 elections, translating into 22 mandates. It was the third strongest political party represented in the Slovak Parliament.
