BRATISLAVA, March 30, (WEBNOVINY) – The Freedom and Solidarity Party (SaS) backpedaled from the battle with KDH for the top post at the Parliamentary Economy Committee. SaS Deputy Chairman Juraj Miskov, who ran for the post, explained that the party did not want to help Robert Fico create an image of scrambling opposition. “I want to work as an ordinary [economy] committee member; I will work industriously and constructively,” the outgoing Minister of Economy pledged on Friday.

Culture Minister Daniel Krajcer says that talks among opposition parties have been constructive and all of them but Christian Democrats were able to attain agreement. “KDH just cannot get enough although it will get the most powerful positions,” Krajcer added. Christian Democrats retorted that the liberal party evidently failed to learn its lesson and continues in disputes. KDH spokesperson Matej Kovac highlighted that neither the Constitution nor any other law spells out that the nomination to the committee’s top post belongs to SaS.
