BRATISLAVA, November 10, (WEBNOVINY) — President of the Republic of Cyprus Demetris Christofias and his spouse Elsi Christofia will pay an official visit to Slovakia upon the invitation of Slovakia’s President Ivan Gasparovic. The Slovak president will officially welcome the Cypriot presidential couple on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the courtyard of the Presidential Palace in the Slovak capital.
Official talks will follow after a brief photo op and a meeting of the two presidential couples. Also on the agenda is the signing of an agreement between the governments of the Slovak Republic and the Republic of Cyprus upon mutual protection of classified information. Then, the presidents and respective delegations will meet. Christofias and Gasparovic will inform of the outcome of their talks at a joint press news conference at noon.
The first ladies Silvia Gasparovicova and Elsi Christofia will visit the Andreas center for autistic children in the Slovak capital.
The Presidential Office informed that the Cypriot President will meet with the Speaker of the Slovak Parliament Richard Sulik at a working lunch. Christofias and Gasparovic will then attend the opening of the Slovak-Cypriot economic forum in the Crowne Plaza Hotel. At 4 p.m. the two presidents will be present at the inauguration of the Cypriot Embassy on the Michalska Street in Bratislava. President Gasparovic and his spouse will host a ceremonial dinner honoring the Cypriot presidential couple in the Presidential Palace. Christofias and his delegation will leave on Friday morning.
