BRATISLAVA, August 8, (WEBNOVINY) — Conservative OKS party, whose four MPs are members of the MOST-HID parliamentary caucus, will launch a new website on the social network Facebook called “Harabin’s Judgment Day” to raise public pressure on Supreme Court President Stefan Harabin to leave office. “Stefan Harabin has been the biggest evil of the Slovak judiciary for a long time,” announced OKS Chairman and MP Peter Zajac at a press briefing on Monday. He claims that Harabin has been perennial evil of the Slovak judiciary for at least fifteen years. He believes that it has been enough and especially the public should raise their voice in the form of direct pressure on Stefan Harabin. “Stefan Harabin’s resignation would be the most honest solution,” said Zajac.

OKS wants to create a Facebook website to ratchet up the public pressure calling for Stefan Harabin’s departure from office of Supreme Court president. Zajac calculates that tens to hundreds of thousands of people would have to support the appeal for it to be effective.

OKS also fully supports Justice Minister Lucia Zitnanska (SDKU-DS) who has initiated the third disciplinary action against Harabin, suggesting his removal from office of a judge. The minister’s third motion against Harabin concerns the case when the Supreme Court under his leadership did not appeal the court ruling confirming the so-called anti-discrimination lawsuits by eleven Supreme Court judges. “Stefan Harabin is not a blank sheet and has been misusing his office in the long term. He behaves as an autocrat in a democratic judiciary who is above the law,“ stated Zajac adding that “Harabin has repeatedly gravely violated the law and work discipline that he has to observe as Supreme Court President, he intimidates and terrorizes judges, his colleagues and co-workers and threatens the media.“ Zajac thinks that Harabin as a nominee of Robert Fico’s government has politicized the judiciary to an immense degree and called his judiciary reforms politicization.

“These gentlemen from OKS probably have their common sense blinded by pride, when they play “small gods” and threaten [me] with Judgment Day,” said Supreme Court President Stefan Harabin on Monday in response to OKS Facebook plans. “They should resign their parliamentary mandates for such an insult to the Jewish and Christian electorate, by usurping the authority over the Final Judgment and spreading hatred,” stated Harabin’s office.
