BRATISLAVA, December 16, (WEBNOVINY) — Despite of the pledges made by the previous government of Robert Fico, some towns will likely have to do without state assistance in construction of industrial parks. The predecessors of the incumbent center-right government pledged to provide finances, for instance, for the industrial zone in Topolcany, cooperation in the preparations of the industrial zone in Chotin pri Komarne and support preparations and construction of industrial parks in Svidnik and Kralovsky Chlmec. However, the Ministry of Economy led by SaS nominee Juraj Miskov does not count on this assistance.

The department has already submitted a material for interdepartmental review, in which it is asking the Cabinet to cancel some of the set tasks, including the support of the above projects. The ministry explains this move by a lack of finances. “The fulfillment of the given tasks cannot be ensured due to a lack of funding from the budgetary chapter of the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic,” argues the ministry, adding that these tasks handed out under Robert Fico are presently unnecessary.

The Slovak Agency for Investment and Trade Development (SARIO), too, is changing its attitude to construction of industrial parks in Slovakia. SARIO director Robert Simoncic opines that the first step is to find an investor and only then a concrete locality for its plans. He thinks that construction and revitalization of industrial zones should not be a separate field, since it will be unlikely an easy way to start with parks and then seek investors. Slovakia has to find investors and only then the localities, Simoncic said in an interview with SITA news agency in early December.
