BRATISLAVA, September 3, (WEBNOVINY) – The Ministry of Defense backs the launch of regular flights connecting Piestany with the German capital, Berlin. The line is expected to enhance development of tourism in the region, particularly the spa industry. Director General and BoD Chairman of Vojenske Zdravotnicke Zaradenia, Tibor Simony, has already talked to an air carrier that could provide the flights. The spa institute Kupelny Ustav F.E. Scherera Piestany with a nearly 150-year tradition is part of the group of military health facilities. The launch of a regular line would undoubtedly attract more patients from Germany, presently discouraged by lengthy traveling, Simony said. Based on preliminary plans, the flights could start in January 2012. Defense Minister Lubomir Galko likes this option, as well. “We support this idea because any clients are good for out health facilities and we’ll happily offer them top quality care. This, however, does not mean that we would not value local guests,” Galko emphasized.
