BRATISLAVA, September 13, (WEBNOVINY) — Christian Democrats will vote to move the tax & payroll levy reform penned by Labor Minister Jozef Mihal to the second reading. “This is a forthcoming gesture toward the coalition and the prime minister,” KDH deputy Anton Marcincin, who has slammed Mihal’s paper during a debate in the parliament, told SITA news agency on Tuesday. He thinks that the first reading will not provide space for amending proposals but the coalition will win an entire month to debate and improve the whole bill. “We all hope that we will arrive at an agreement,” he added. Christian Democrats will vote for the bill in order to diffuse tensions and help improve the present-day situation. In Marcincin’s words, his party strives for credibility of Slovakia, the best possible timing of reforms and their successful implementation. “We have a month to find a solution,” the deputy observed.

The SaS’ dismissive position to the eurozone bailout mechanism is unfortunate, according to the deputy. “We have a month to convince the SaS that continuation of the partnership with members of the euro club and the EU is in Slovakia’s interest,” Marcincin said, adding that a potential connection of the bailout vote with a vote of confidence in the Cabinet should be decided by the prime minister. “Only few can imagine that we could function as a coalition if such a serious topic was not answered in common language. I hope that it’s not election battle and populism on part of the SaS,” he concluded.
