BRATISLAVA, April 25, (WEBNOVINY) — Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico will be attending the economic forum Poland- Central Europe – China in Warsaw on Thursday. The event is focused on economic cooperation and joint growth of central European countries and China. The visiting political leaders will explore possibilities of intensifying mutual cooperation, development of investments, and cooperation in modern and green technologies projects, informed the Slovak Cabinet Office.
Fifteen prime ministers of central European counties were invited to Warsaw. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico is scheduled to meet with his counterparts Viktor Orban (Hungary), Donald Tusk (Poland) and Wen Jiabao (China). during his brief visit to Poland. High on the agenda of bilateral meetings will be economic cooperation.
Fico has already informed they the state citizenship law will not be among the topics at his talks with Orban. “I want to assure you that I will go to these talks only with economic and social topics and mutually advantageous economic projects, I do not have a reason to open other topics with the Hungarian partners,” said Fico on Tuesday during his visit to Brussels. “It would be a pity if we fail to utilize this possibility to sit down and exchange a few first introductory words,” said Fico.
Prime Minister Robert Fico said last week that the government has an unfulfilled task, which is to the correct the law on citizenship so that it does not damage citizens of Slovakia who apply for citizenship of some other country and then as a result of the law lose their Slovak citizenship. „In relation to Hungary this law will certainly remain in effect because the law is valid there to which we reacted with this legislation,” said Fico. Budapest rushed to say that if the new Slovak government changes the citizenship law in the way discriminating against Slovakia’s Hungarians who acquire Hungarian citizenship, it will take legal steps against Slovakia at international courts. Fico reacted later by saying that such start of Slovak-Hungarian relations would not be very fortunate.
