BRATISLAVA, February 24, (WEBNOVINY) — Minister of Economy Juraj Miskov and head of the Slovak Agency for Investment and Trade Development (SARIO) Robert Simoncic are planning to present Slovakia in the USA as a country open for new foreign investments. “We would like to boost the share of US investments in Slovakia,” stated Miskov at a press conference on Thursday.

The Economy Minister and SARIO chief believe that they will succeed on their business trip and attract US investors to Slovakia. “There are companies that are determined to invest in Slovakia and there are others which intend to make an investment in the central European region and have not selected the country yet,” elaborated Miskov. “Some companies are in the process of negotiations and our trip may accelerate the whole process. We will try to push investments a little forward. I assume we will have a specific list of investors after our trip,” added Simoncic.

The Slovak representatives want to offer potential US investors a business environment without needless administrative burden, high-quality workforce and attractive conditions for investments with a higher added value. Miskov listed among Slovakia’s advantages versus neighboring countries the euro, unified tax system, the fastest growing GDP in the European Union, the highest labor productivity, high education level and exceptionally favorable geographic location. “These may be decisive facts that will influence decision-making of US investors,” said Miskov.

The Slovak delegation will attend four investment seminars intended for US businessmen. Slovak representatives will promote Slovakia in Washington, New York, San Francisco and Chicago. “Our program includes bilateral talks with representatives of the Department of Commerce, Treasury Department, the National Academy of Sciences, representatives of the National Economic Council, management of the New York Stock Exchange and mainly top managers of prominent companies including IBM, Arnold and Porter, KPMG, White and Wiliams, PWC, Google, Gartner, or Navigant Consulting,” specified Simoncic. Miskov also plans a meeting with a congressman with Slovak roots John Mica and businessman Steve Forbes.

The steel maker U.S.Steel and the American Chamber of Commerce in Slovakia support the business trip of Slovakia’s representatives. Minister Miskov informed that its cost was estimated at nearly EUR 90,000. The minister also plans a pro-investment visit to Germany.
