BRATISLAVA, September 6, (WEBNOVINY) — In response to the current developments in the bailout that shall be provided to Greece and the implementation of stabilization measures agreed upon by European leaders in July, Slovak Finance Minister Ivan Miklos observed that there would be reasons for concerns if there were no guarantees for the help and Greece’s strong commitment to stabilize its public funds.

The ministry seriously cares for terms of these measures. Therefore, it finds it necessary to reiterate that Slovakia has for several times shown strong interest in guarantees for its potential participation in the next [bailout] program as well as in a clear commitment of the beneficiary to do its utmost for stabilization of public finances and to implement economic reforms. Any signals of failure in this context provide reasons for concern, Miklos’ statement reads.

The department maintains its opinion that a rapid implementation of the euro zone-summit conclusions from July 21 is necessary to secure sufficient sources and efficient tools to allay the risk of contagion and spillover of budgetary and debt crisis, faced by some euro club members. The Slovak Cabinet will debate the essential measures, i.e. the annex to the Treaty on the European Financial Stability Facility and the draft revision to the law on specific state guarantees, on September 7 so that they can be sent to parliament as soon as possible.
