BRUSSELS/BRATISLAVA, September 16, (WEBNOVINY) – Consolidation of public funds and the ways to put up with negative impacts of the crisis were the main topics of a short working meeting of prime ministers of the Visegrad Group (V4) countries in Brussels prior to Thursday’s European Council session. Prime Minister Iveta Radicova reported about the meeting to journalists. The Council President Herman Van Rompuy, who participated at the meeting, too, called for such meetings to take place on a regular basis, which could help find solutions to common problems.

Radicova pointed out the importance of pension reforms and whether their costs should be or should not be included in countries’ deficits. She went on to say that such transformation of countries has its costs and therefore a methodology how to perform it is being sought. „None of the countries wants to get into a situation when it would camouflage and falsify the real situation of its public financed any more,” she emphasized.

The European Council session, taking place on Thursday in Brussels, is focused on relations with strategic partners of the EU and economic issues.
