BRATISLAVA, June 21, (WEBNOVINY) — Had presidential elections in Slovakia taken place in June rather than as scheduled in 2014, opposition SMER-SD leader and ex-Prime Minister Robert Fico would be the winner of the first round. According to the June 3-9 survey conducted by the MVK agency, 43.6 percent of those polled would cast their ballots for Fico. The current Prime Minister, Iveta Radicova, was second supported by 32.8 percent of the respondents. Pavol Hrusovsky (KDH) followed with 12.4 percent. Jan Budaj would harvest 6 percent and Frantisek Sebej 5.2 percent.
The polling agency used an alphabetically arranged closed list of candidates selected based on an analysis of private preferences of relevant voter segments. Almost 44 percent of respondents would not take part or were unable to select a candidate in these virtual elections.
