BRATISLAVA, July 11, (WEBNOVINY) — If former Prime Minister, university professor Iveta Radicova ran in presidential elections slated for 2014, she would win and become the first female president in the history of Slovakia. According to a June 20-27 survey on a representative sample of 1,124 respondents that the MVK pollster carried out exclusively for Hospodarske Noviny daily, Radicova would receive 33.3 percent of the vote. Current Prime Minister, SMER-SD leader Robert Fico would come second with 30.1 percent, followed by Jan Carnogursky with 14.9 percent. Ex-KDH head Pavol Hrusovsky would gain 8.6 percent, environmental activist Mikulas Huba 5.8 percent, Frantisek Sebej 4.7 percent and Peter Osusky 2.6 percent.

MVK head Pavol Haulik explained that they used a pre-defined and closed list of candidates arranged alphabetically who were selected based on an analysis of personal preferences of relevant voter segments. According to the pollster 38.6 percent of respondents would not take part in this modeled election or were unable to select among the offered candidates. The remaining 61.4 percent of respondents chose their favorite among the offered candidates.
