BRATISLAVA, February 12, (WEBNOVINY) — An opinion poll conducted by MVK shows Mikulas Dzurinda’s SDKU-DS outside the parliament. Based on figures released Friday, SDKU-DS would garner mere 4.3 percent and would place seventh. Opposition SMER-SD would report a landslide victory as its 40.6 percent would translate into 84 parliamentary mandates enabling the Robert Fico party to rule alone. SMER-SD alone would even have constitutional majority in parliament.
KDH would collect 12.7 percent (26 parliamentary seats, Ordinary People and Independent Personalities 7 percent (15 mandates), SaS 6.1 percent (13 MPs) and MOST-HID would harvest 5.9 percent (12 mandates).
The pollster addressed 1,128 respondents between February 7 and 12. A total of 41 percent were determined to cast vote. A third of respondents were hesitant. MVK estimates vote turnout at 46-52 percent.
Political analyst Grigorij Meseznikov does not think that SDKU-DS will be left in front of the Parliament’s doors after the elections in March. Outcomes of the latest polls released this week indicate sinking popularity of the party among its supporters, their hesitation and uncertainty. This trend has been apparent for the three past weeks. “It relates to the Gorilla case; part of voters is uncertain. Nonetheless, there is no threat that SDKU-DS would not make it into Parliament in spite of unfavorable situation,“ Meseznikov elaborated.
