BRATISLAVA, October 31, (WEBNOVINY) — Spokesman for the coalition party KDH Matej Kovac should apologize to Prime Minister Iveta Radicova (SDKU), thinks Radicova’s chief of her team of aides Marian Balasz. PM Iveta Radicova has criticized the Friday ceremonial opening of the new section of the R1 dual carriageway where politicians of KDH and opposition SMER-SD representatives ceremonially cut the ribbon together. Jan Figel and Pavol Hrusovsky shook hands with SMER-SD leader Robert Fico and ex-transport minister Lubomir Vazny. At the SDKU central board meeting over the weekend, Radicova said that she looked at the ribbon cutting and did not believe it for a while asking herself what kind of way of political pardon it is. She earned applause from her party mates for her address.
The response from the KDH was tough. Its spokesman Mater Kovac rushed to hit back by calling statements of the „outgoing prime minister“ misleading and offending. He said that despite them KDH still considers the SDKU-DS its natural partner, together with MOST-HID. He explained that the ministry invited the whole leadership of the parliament to the ceremony.
Balasz replied however that the spokesman for the Christian-Democrats said something completely different from that what the prime minister said. She did not reproach the KDH for sending or not sending an invitation to this or that MP but clearly and unambiguously addressed the joint cutting of the ribbon by KDH and SMER representatives.
Kovac also said that the KDH continues being critical about the R1 stretch being overpriced but Balasz says that it is irrelevant. “The prime minister did not ascribe the overpricing of the project to representatives of the KDH,” he said. Balasz said that the prime minister was right when she said that Figel’s behavior is putting immoral decisions over moral ones. “The government of Robert Fico has deprived citizens of Slovakia of over 11 million euros in the case of the so-called bulletin board tender, tens of millions of euros in the emission sale case, 24 million euros in the case of social companies while Slovakia has lost as well 13 million euros in the promotion of the Operational Program Environment and over 3 million euros in the case of the Bratislava airport. Representatives of KDH like to say that it is not possible to relativize morals but by cutting the ribbon with Vazny and Fico and extremely forthcoming communication in their presence they relativized morals exactly as the prime minister sees it,” said Balasz. He also urged Kovac to better weigh his words in the future and think it over first to what he reacts and mainly how.
