BRATISLAVA, September 22, (WEBNOVINY) — The Coalition Council confirmed the nomination of Eva Simkova to the post of director of the Slovak Land Fund. The coalition partners also agreed that constitutional representatives with the exception of judges will have salaried decreased in 2011 by three-fold the percentage of the deficit of the state budget in 2010. In the next years, it should be two-fold of the percentage of the deficit in the previous year. The current freezing of politicians’ salaries will be lifted. Finance Minister Ivan Miklos will provide more detailed information about remuneration of constitutional representatives on Thursday.
The coalition debated also about the draft amendment to the Language Act. According to Prime Minister Iveta Radicova, the partners agreed that “as far as public information is concerned, information that represents common activities within public administration, information that means availability of basic services for citizens, information that could mean potential risk of danger to lives, natural disasters, failure to obey the law will require sanctions [for violations]”. Radicova said that there is consent on this in the coalition. The partners are to agree upon the concrete sanctions this week.
The issue of penalties remained open also in the law on national citizenship. Interior Minister Daniel Lipsic is to discuss the problem, and present an agreement to the Coalition Council. The law that is in effect at present and which the previous government of Robert Fico adopted, will be canceled, Radicova added. She said that if a Slovak citizens accepts Hungarian citizenship, certain steps should be performed before he/she gives up the Slovak citizenship. At present, a person who accepts a different citizenship automatically loses Slovak citizenship, with some exceptions, stipulated in the law.
