NEW YORK/BRATISLAVA, September 22, (WEBNOVINY) — At a meeting with European Council President Herman Van Rompuy in New York, Prime Minister Iveta Radicova told him that the eurozone financial stability mechanism is becoming a really hot topic which is even being connected to the future of the current government in Slovakia. She also informed Van Rompuy on positions of Slovak political parties explaining that SaS, one of the coalition parties, opposes the stability mechanism. According to Radicova the strongest opposition party SMER-SD supports the mechanism verbally yet refuses to support it by a vote in parliament.
Radicova also repeated her position that for her ruling coalition’s stability is a priority as she considers this the only way Slovakia can carry out important reforms and adopt the 2012 budget, informed the press department of the Cabinet Office.
