BRATISLAVA, July 29, (WEBNOVINY) — Slovakia is determined to join the efforts to defend the euro, to do everything so that the currency is good and stable, and to ensure that all countries in the eurozone behave responsibly for the benefit of its citizens, stated Slovakia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Mikulas Dzurinda after talks with his German counterpart Guido Westerwelle in Berlin on Thursday. The German head of diplomacy pointed out that his government sees the current Slovak government as an important ally in the effort which should lead to a Europe with a culture of stability within the budgets of eurozone countries.
Both ministers agreed on several particular activities. In spring of the next year, an economic and innovation forum should be held in Slovakia, where the government will present measures in the areas of economy and social affairs. Slovakia also plans closer cooperation with Germany in the field of high-tech research and development. Dzurinda expressed Slovakia’s interest in more new investments from Germany and invited his German partner to the meeting of the Visegrad Group’s foreign affairs ministers.
Germany is the second country that Dzurinda visited since he took the office. The first country was Czech Republic, as in line with the tradition of the Czech and Slovak Cabinet ministers.
