BRATISLAVA, October 3, (WEBNOVINY) – A Slovak delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ivan Miklos will attend the eight Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) held in Brussels on October 4-5. However, the Slovak delegation will be present only on the first day of the summit. Miklos will deliver a speech dedicated to the first panel discussion “A more efficient management of finances and economy.” Bilateral meetings between the minister and representatives of some Asian countries are also being prepared. The summit will seek solutions to problems sparked by the economic and financial crisis and focus on sustainable development, Euro-Asian ties and international as well as regional topics, reads a material approved by the Cabinet this week. The meeting aims to shift the dialogue involving the EU and Asian countries, tackling political and economic collaboration, to a new level. Three new members will be admitted to the ASEM: the Russian Federation, Australia and New Zealand.
