President and Future PM Speak about Forming New Cabinet

BRATISLAVA, March 26, (WEBNOVINY) – President Ivan Gasparovic met with SMER-SD leader and Prime Minister-designate Robert Fico on Monday. The future prime minister informed the head of state about the progress in formation of the new cabinet. As presidential spokesman Marek Trubac informed SITA news agency, the two agreed on the date of appointing the new cabinet. This will be April 4, the day when the new Parliament convenes for the first time, when the session will be in recess.

The leader of the Social Democrats informed the president about the names of future ministers, whose nominations have been already decided. The Presidential Office will, however, not disclose the presented names. The designated prime minister has so far confirmed for the media the following nominations: Miroslav Lajcak as the foreign minister, Dusan Caplovic as the education minister, Marek Madaric as the culture minister, and Robert Kalinak as the interior minister. SMER-SD leadership is to decide on the members of the future cabinet this Friday while on Monday; April 2 the complete list will be presented to the president.
