PM-Designate Fico Confirms Further Ministers

BRATISLAVA, March 29, (WEBNOVINY) — Martin Glvac and Peter Ziga will also serve in the new Cabinet of Robert Fico. Glvac will lead the Defense Ministry and Ziga will be at the helm of the Environment Ministry, PM-designate Robert Fico confirmed on Thursday.

SMER-SD announced earlier the nomination of Tomas Borec for the post of the Justice Minister while Peter Kazimir shall lead the Finance Ministry. Zuzana Zvolenska will be in charge of the Health Ministry and ex-MFA Miroslav Lajcak accepted the offer to lead the Foreign Affairs Ministry again. Dusan Caplovic will become the Education Minister, Marek Madaric will be at the helm of the Culture Ministry and Robert Kalinak will rule at the Interior Ministry. Jan Pociatek will head the Transport Ministry. Stanislav Becik is expected to take over the Agriculture Ministry. He led the department in the past as a nominee of the People’s Party- Movement for Democratic Slovakia, which again did not make it to the parliament in the March 10 elections. It is supposed that Jan Richter will be in charge of the Labor Ministry and Jan Valko will head the Economy Ministry. SMER-SD has time to form the Cabinet until Friday.

The presidency of the party is slated to meet in Banska Bystrica at the end of the week to formally approve the lists of nominees. Fico will subsequently announce the nominations to President Ivan Gasparovic.
