BRATISLAVA, January 24, (WEBNOVINY) — Mayor of the central Slovak town of Martin, Andrej Hrnciar, who is among the top ten candidates on the MOST-HID slate in March 10 early elections received a bullet in his mail on Tuesday. The party considers the threatening mail a display of some people’s prejudices. “We believe that the mayor got the bullet as a warning because he runs on the MOST-HID slate. It is necessary to remark that in such cases influence of some political leaders plays a great role. A few days ago the chairman of a parliamentary party openly campaigned against Andrej Hrnciar with his statements invited attacks against him, said party chairman Bela Bugar. He clearly hinted at SNS leader Jan Slota who called Hrnciar a dirty rouge and a traitor on Saturday.
The party insists it is unbelievable that such strong nationalistic prejudices and hatred are nourished in a democratic country in the 21st century. “Whatever the result of this election campaign and anti-campaign will be, we will not be intimidated,” stated Bugar. Hrnciar has filed a criminal complaint regarding the threatening mail, informed MOST-HID.
