BRATISLAVA, October 2, (WEBNOVINY) – There is no concrete agreement between Prime Minister Iveta Radicova and the Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party regarding the support to the eurozone bailout fund with increased powers. Negotiations are still underway, stated SaS deputy Chairman Daniel Krajcer in Sunday’s regular political debate program Na Telo of the private television TV Markiza. The SaS will not support the bailout fund in its current form, Krajcer restated the party’s position.

According to the SaS deputy leader, the party is prepared to negotiate and seek a solution to the issue, under the condition that Slovakia does not spend a single euro more on the bailout fund. The SaS does not want to block at any cost the other sixteen eurozone countries that agree with boosting the capacity of the bailout fund. According to Krajcer, the agreement with Radicova is just a procedure or technical side of how to achieve what the SaS wants.

Krajcer opines that it would be unfair if Slovakia provided further guarantees. According to him, the eurozone bailout mechanism is an economic experiment. He rejected the idea of connecting the votes on increasing the powers of the bailout fund with a motion of confidence in the government. In response to the question of whether the government will continue after the vote on the bailout fund, Krajcer said: “As long as our position is respected and negotiations continue, there is a chance it will continue.”

The opposition SNS party is against increasing the powers of the EFSF, too. Its deputy leader Rafael Rafaj said that the party has decided not to support irresponsible countries and will not change its position.
